Nine year old Rachel Beckwith had given up her 9th birthday present in order to raise money for the charity water. Unfortunately she fell a little short she raised £220 when she wanted to raise £300. She was determined not to fail next year. Sadly she didn’t get to try. On July 23, 2011 nine-year old Rachel Beckwith tragically died in a car accident.
People all around heard her story and were moved. People started to donate the charity: water fundraising page. Over the next month people donated an astonishing $1.2 million in the honour of that girl.
That money is being used to provide 60,000 people with clean water. On the year anniversary of her death, Rachel’s mother, Samantha and her grandparents Richard and Rosanne visited Ethiopia with the charity water and meet some people Rachel helped.
The village leader said that, “Rachel could feel the pain of other on the other side of the world.”
